Course Descriptions

 

DEMR 1229 - An introductory course designed to provide the student with basic knowledge of proper servicing practices. Content includes record keeping and condition of major systems. Student learning outcomes include: Apply preventative maintenance practices; perform preventative maintenance on systems; and practice appropriate record keeping.

 

DEMR 1301 - An introductory course. A study of shop safety, rules, basic shop tools, and test equipment. Student learning outcomes include: Identify and use basic hand tools; use human protection equipment; and correctly use and dispose of hazardous materials.

 

DEMR 1406 - An introduction to the basic principles of diesel engines and systems. Student learning outcomes include: Describe the history of diesel engines and diesel systems and their evolution; demonstrate knowledge of the basic principles of diesel systems and engines and how they function; and utilize precision instruments to diagnose and repair basic systems and engines.

 

DEMR 1410 - An introduction to testing and repairing diesel engines including related systems specialized tools. Student learning outcomes include: Identify, inspect, test and measure, and disassemble and reassemble engine parts.
