The course is designed to develop business math skills for computational use in the business office and to develop an understanding of business situations which enable students to apply practical applications in real work situations in the world of business.  Also calculator speed is developed by hands on drills and applications.

Intro. To Accounting I

Instruction in accounting in its simplest form is presented, emphasizing forms and procedures.  Areas covered include journalizing and posting of special journals, and completion of  financial statements. A simulation packet is included to help with the understanding of the accounting cycle used in a real business situation.

 

Word Processing

An overview of current word processing (MS2000) concepts and an introduction to word processing hardware. Hands on experience for the refinement of word processing skills are met.       

 

Professional. Development  for the Office Personnel

Designed to provide an overview of skills needed in a receptionist office. Instruction covered includes time management, stress and conflict management, communicating and getting along with customers and co-workers.

Introduction to Accounting II

Accounting II concepts learned in Acct. l are applied. The accounting cycle is completed by including accounts receivables, payables, accruals, deferrals, merchandise inventory and plant assets.  Basic accounting procedures and principles for partnerships and corporations are also introduced.

 

Document Formatting and Skillbuilding

An introduction to and refinement of typing procedures used in business correspondence. Speed and accuracy drills are used throughout the course and a minimum speed is required.

 

Records and Information Management

Records Management is an alphabetic, numerical filing and control system that is introduced at an entry level. Alphabetic correspondence and numerical filing business correspondence are done through a practice simulation.

 

 

 

BLOCK IV        Begins March 2008

Business Correspondence

Focus is on composing, planning and preparing effective business letters such as inquiries, requests, goodwill, persuasive and collection letters. The student prepares a complete portfolio used for applying for jobs upon graduation.

 

Computer Applications I

The course is designed to teach spread sheet computer applications. Students will be given the opportunity to acquire hands-on experience using the designated software packages such as MS Excel 2000.
